For Summer 2022 we delighted to offer some free Ukrainian Visitor Adventure Sessions. Yep, we know that is a rubbish name but couldn’t think of anything better. Please do read on for more information. We also really hope you can help us make contact with anyone that would benefit.
While our own lives go on in their safe and privileged way, we keep tuning in to watch news of the daily atrocities being committed in Ukraine. We are heartbroken to see this awful tragedy unfold. We have also felt really helpless to offer constructive help. We have been able to make donations and send clothing and camping equipment (thanks to Alpkit in Hathersage for arranging this). But, it is a tiny contribution and we wanted to do more.

We had an idea. We have a busy summer of Peak District National Park adventures ahead. We are also finally in a position where some Ukrainian families are reaching the area. So, we thought some of them might like to join us. So, we warmly welcome any Ukrainian visitors to contact us for some fun and friendly adventures. This can be for families, groups or individuals and the types of activities available can be found on our website here. Of course, these sessions are offered completely cost free.

We do realise that there may be language barriers to people contacting us or finding out about these opportunities. So, if you are reading this and can help by making contact on behalf of others or sharing this offer with people in your network, we’d really appreciate it. We can easily be reached by calling us in office hours on 01433620283 or through our Contact Us form here.

We also understand that many of these visitors won’t have their own transport. We will help with transport whenever possible. We can also tailor some of our sessions to be accessible by public transport. This network works within the High Peak or via Manchester or Sheffield. We can help and advise as much as possible.

The sessions will have to fit in amongst our regular bookings and we can’t promise to always have availability. But, we will always try very hard to offer something. The sessions will be run by qualified and insured instructors and we will provide all technical equipment.

We know this is a tiny contribution in the scheme of things. But, if any displaced Ukrainians can enjoy some temporary distractions from the awful events that have led them here, that feels like a small win.
We are also seeking ways to do more and would love to hear from anyone with ideas. For now, our Ukrainian Visitor Adventure Sessions feels like a start.
