Description
Scotland is a treasure trove of mountaineering ridge objectives. The Great Ridges of Scotland are renowned for their technicality, beauty and scrambling quality. Pinnacle Ridge, the Skye Ridge, the Aonach Eagach or the stunning lines on the North Face of Ben Nevis to name a few. There is a lifetime of amazing routes and we are keen to share them with you.
As one example, we were contacted by Gill and Andy who wanted to experience some of the classic lines. Of course we were delighted to oblige. We took into account their experience levels and discussed their dream tick list. Like all mountain trips, it is important to have alternative plans in mind and so we added some plan B’s, C’s and D’s. We sorted logistics for them and advised them on what to pack. Soon enough, we were all ready.
In the lead up to the trip we had a couple of training days on one of our Peak District Introductory Climbing Courses and one of our Snowdonia Introductory Scrambling Courses. Eventually it was time to turn the couple’s dreams into reality. Over 5 glorious days we managed to tick some real classics. Curved Ridge and the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe, Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis and the Forcan Ridge Sgurr na Sgine in Glen Shiel. We did have a rest day in the middle – but they were on holiday!
It was a magical trip and we absolutely loved sharing some of the Great Ridges of Scotland with them. They were in the safe hands of an Association of Mountaineering Professional and loved their unique road trip. Journeying from mountain area to another, enjoying some fine hospitality and having adventure packed days makes for a heady mix. The only thing we didn’t know in advance was when, mid-way along the Aonach Eagach Ridge, Andy dropped to one knee and pulled a ring from his pocket. Our sincere congratulations to them both (she said yes!).
