We are so excited to announce that Peak Mountaineering has become a Peak District National Park Foundation Partner. SO excited! Please read on to find out more about the foundation, why we were invited to be a partner and what that means.
What is the Peak District National Park Foundation?
The Peak District National Park Foundation (PDNPF) is a registered charity established to raise funds to care for the Peak District National Park (PDNP) and to make it more inclusive. Their mission is to grow income and support to care for the PDNP for everyone to enjoy. Their aim is to raise funds and create a culture of philanthropy supporting the park. They support activities which keep the park special and make it a welcoming place for all to enjoy.
#70for70 campaign
The way they do this is varied and far reaching. A big recent fundraising initiative has been their #70kfor70 campaign. April 2021 will mark 70 years since the PDNP was designated as the UK’s first national park and the foundation wanted to mark the occasion by raising £70,000 to fund a series of conservation and access projects. They made it! Even in these challenging economic times they were successful in meeting their target and the money has already started to be used for a wide range of projects.
Who benefits?
They have provided funding for important restoration work and habitat restoration. The funds have helped the creation and maintenance of accessible routes. Funds have also helped support both volunteer activities and support groups working with BAME communities. Many diverse and yet vital parts of the park have benefited from their essential work. Infact, every visitor to the PDNP benefits from their work.
What is a Peak District National Park Foundation Partner?
The foundation encourage businesses who thrive from their connection to the park to join with foundation by becoming partners. Businesses benefit by knowing they are supporting a vital foundation and the foundation benefit by using the expertise of local businesses to further their aims and by income generation. We encourage every business to get involved .
Why we were invited and why it’s a big deal
Peak Mountaineering is proud of our contribution to protecting the Peak District National Park. Our work with the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) working with ex offenders through the Fit for Work scheme. We also partner the PPCV team on our annual Pick & Play and Pick & Play Summer Tour events and our Litter Collection Equipment Loan Scheme. We are pleased of the contributions we make in supporting businesses who in turn support and protect the park. This involves partnerships with responsible companies such as Rab and Lowe Alpine, Nikwax, Hydro Flask and Osprey. We want to do more, but we are pleased with what we do.
A massive honour
We do it all for the love of the natural environment and our drive to use our business as a force for good, but it’s very nice to have this contribution recognised. So, when we were nominated to become a partner we couldn’t have been more proud. It is a massive honour. But, the clue for us is in the name partner. In return for the foundations faith in us will be aiming to support the vital work of the charity as much as possible. We are brimming with ideas but please watch this space. We will keep readers of our blog informed every step of the way!
