COVID-19 January 2021 Update

COVID-19 January 2021 Update

Welcome to our COVID-19 January 2021 Update. This explains our current provision. It also details the state of play for upcoming bookings. We hope it provides the reassurance you need to book with confidence. However, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you want to discuss any aspect of our current delivery.

Mountain Activity Courses & Guiding

At the time of writing our COVID-19 January 2021 update we are in the midst of the third national lockdown. This means all our outdoor and guiding activities are on hold until a further guideline change.  The date currently given for the next announcement is 18th February.  All being well, we’ll be back in action after that.

With all that in mind, we are still taking bookings for any mountain based courses after the 20th February.  We fully expect, if activities are allowed, that we will be very busy. After all, isn’t everyone desperate for some adventure!?  So, please do speak to us sooner rather than later if you fancy joining a course or booking some private guiding. All our winter courses are detailed here and Spring course dates for all other courses are on the website.

All mountain course bookings are fully covered by our COVID guarantee which is detailed below.

Tor Lea Training First Aid Courses

Our ITC first aid courses continue to run, albeit with reduced numbers and extensive COVID modifications.  We haven’t taken the decision to continue these courses lightly. We are acutely aware of the balance between providing essential first aid training and managing the safety of participants.

Courses can’t be made completely risk free, but we’ve made extensive efforts to make them as safe as possible.  We are also taking account of current guidance in all decisions. Participant safety is at the heart of everything we do. Details on all our first aid courses is here.

All first aid bookings are fully covered by our COVID guarantee which is detailed below.

Double Black Bike Repairs

Double Black are fully open as usual. The government guidance allows Bike repair businesses to remain open and we know how important bikes are to people at the moment.  We are still offering our socially distanced collection and delivery service in the local area. You are also welcome to visit our workshop by appointment.  We are also for any repairs under the government’s Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme. Details on all Double’s Blacks services are detailed here.

All bike repairs, servicing and repair bookings are fully covered by our COVID guarantee which is detailed below.

Our COVID-19 Guarantee

The biggest difficulty we all currently face is not knowing when things will change.  Either you or us may need to change things at short notice.  We want you to have the confidence to book a course with us without the risk of losing your payment.

Our guarantee is simple.  If you are unable to proceed with your booking we will offer you a refund or change of course date as prefered. This is whether due to government restrictions related to Covid-19 or a change in your personal circumstances. This could include travel bans, regional or national lockdowns or enforced self-isolation or illness. We are applying this guarantee to all future bookings until the COVID-19 crisis is resolved.

How Are We Making Things As Safe As Possible?

All of our activities adhere to the government COVID Secure criteria regarding health, social distancing and hygiene.

We are also accredited through the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard.  This requires businesses to complete appropriate risk assessments and to undertake a self assessment process.

Our updated systems ensure good hygiene practices are in place during courses. Equipment is also managed between courses to eliminate virus transmission risk.  For our first aid courses we have changed many aspects of our delivery. Even so, we feel confident we can still supply the top quality training experience we are known for.

All participants are also required to complete a COVID-19 Medical Declaration before attending a course.

We Are Staying Flexible

We will continue to keep a close watch on government guideline changes to ensure we are ready to strengthen or relax measures at short notice.  Our practices are also ready to adapt if there are any changes to scientific advice.

We Want You To Feel Confident

If you want access to any of our risk assessments please don’t hesitate to ask.  These clarify the specific steps we are taking to minimise risk and we are more than happy to let you read them if you wish.

Please do everything you can to protect yourself and your families and friends at this challenging time.  Blue skies and great adventures surely await us all.
