The Peak District is the UK's oldest and busiest national park.  It is also Peak Mountaineering's home turf and, as a business passionate about protecting the natural environment, we want to play our part in helping to protect it.  Although the majority of park users share our sense of pride by keeping the park peachy clean, there are certainly problems with litter hotspots.  Along with that we are always desperate to get as many people as possible sharing our passion for the world class outdoor activity opportunities the park offers.

So, for the FIFTH year running we are delighted to again be organising our unique FREE environmental clean up and outdoor activity event and we are delighted to have some very powerful allies.  Yet again we are being supported by the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers and for the second time we are delighted to welcome on board local equipment brand Rab who are bringing some of their team along to help and offering a free gift for all participants along with some stellar prizes for us to dish out on the day.

The Pick and Play format is simple.  Participants spend the morning cleaning up litter hotspots around the park and then, after lunch, we'll head off to local venues for a free outdoor activity.  Last year our team of over 60 cleaned up an estimated 150 kgs of rubbish and then enjoyed time mountain biking, climbing and abseiling at a local crag and enjoying a ranger led local interest walk.  This year the activities will be of a similar type although we are delighted to also be offering a bushcraft session. The feeling of having made a difference in such a pristine environment is something you can't put a price on and the opportunity to try a new sport is priceless.  Which is handy .....because there is no price!  Due to the generosity of our friends in the instructing world and many members of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) who give up their time for free and the generous support of local businesses who help to supply equipment, there is absolutely zero cost to participants.

It's a great event guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face and all that's missing is YOU!  Come and join us.  Families, couples, groups of friends or individuals - everyone is welcome (although places are limited so get in touch soon to book) and can be assured a very warm reception. Your national park needs you!  All we ask is that participants confirm their place by completing a Booking Form here and we'll then send you all the details of where to meet and timings.  The rest is the fun bit.............
