Peak District Pick & Play 2015

1st May 2015

Peak Mountaineering’s annual litter collection and outdoor activity day is nearly here again and we really hope you can join us.....
The Peak District Pick and Play, which we host annually in collaboration with the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers, is a unique event combining cleaning up Britain’s most popular national park with a host of outdoor activities.  This year's event is on Sunday May 10th.  Attendees spend a morning collecting rubbish at selected litter hotspots around the park then, after lunch, are invited to try their hand at climbing and abseiling, mountain biking, orienteering or a guided ranger walk.
The event is completely free and, thanks to the generous support of prestigious equipment brand Rab, we will even have a free lunch and a thank you gift for every participant.  In 2014 almost 100kgs of rubbish was removed by around 60 volunteers in only 2 hours – can you help us beat that in 2015?
We will be clearing select litter hotspots around the park (depending on how/where you are travelling from we’ll allocate you a start point) then we’ll rendezvous at Surprise View Car Park (we’ll send details of how to find that) and, after lunch, head off for the afternoon activities.  It's also a doddle to get to us by public transport.  Simple.
If you are only available for the morning’s litter collection we’d still love your help.  We also need some additional help with lunch preparation so, if you a budding Gordon Ramsey, it would also be great to have you along too.  Finally, if you are a qualified outdoor instructor (HML, ML or SPA) or know of any who are available we’d also really love to hear from you. Together we can a big difference to this special place.
The day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm but if you can only help for a part of that we'd still give you a very warm welcome.  If you can help please let us know in advance by emailing or use our Contact Form here.  We’ll ask you to complete a simple booking form and send you joining instructions.  Hope to see you there.
