Last winter Peak Mountaineering teamed up with our good friends at Trek & Mountain Magazine to offer a unique new mountain event.  The Scottish Winter Weekender, which was based at our cosy West Highland base in Onich, combined different levels of winter training with quizzes, prizes, technical lectures and an inspirational evening talk. Above all else though, the event was a fantastic social get together and a chance to celebrate the stunning beauty of the Scottish mountains in winter with like minded individuals.  The feedback was unanimously fantastic, so it really didn't take long to decide if we were going to run one this winter. So, we are delighted to announce the second Trek & Mountain/Peak Mountaineering Scottish Winter Weekender will be running between Saturday February 28th and Monday March 2nd 2015........and we really hope you can join us.

What's the deal?

Simple.  Sign up for a weekender training course at a level to suit your experience and aspirations and book your accommodation.  That's it.  We'll throw in the extras free of charge (and the extras are amazing!). For 2015 we have even kept the prices exactly the same.  We have 3 course levels available to suit everyone from winter newbie to seasoned campaigner and, because we'll throw in all the essential technical equipment free of charge, you don't need anything beyond your normal hill going kit and suitable boots (we can even arrange boot hire if needed).  We are also absolutely delighted to welcome event sponsors Rab and Lowe Alpine who will be supplying course participants with a fantastic gear package worth over £500.  Rab have even roped in Callum Muskett, one of their sposored athlete team, to provide an evening lecture recounting some of his amazing recent climbs in the Alps and Patagonia.

3 day Winter Skills Course

Firstly, there's our 3 day winter skills course (our all time most popular winter course option).  This is ideal for anyone new to winter hill going and consistently gets fantastic feedback from participants.  Over 3 action packed days you'll learn a toolbox of essential skills to help you stay safe in the mountains.  Full details on the course content is available here.

3 day Winter Mountaineering Course

Secondly, for those with some winter skills experience the ideal progression is our Winter Mountaineering Course.  Steeper ground, more technical content and a small instructor to client ratio of 1:2.  This course will push your skill levels and is also ideal for anyone planning trips to the Alps or greater ranges.  Full details on the course content is available here.

3 day Winter Climbing Course

Some winter experience?  Some basic rope skills?  Keen to see what all the (well justified!) fuss about winter climbing is all about?  Look no further.  This course will give you a solid grounding in the skills needed to tackle graded winter climbs in safety.  Expert Mountaineering Instructors will search out the best climbs for the conditions and challenge you at a level suitable for you.  Is it your time to climb?  Full details on the course content is available here.

If you are planning a winter course this year look no further.  Be a part of the Scottish Winter Weekender.
