A date for your diary - Pick and Play 2015
For the last 3 years Peak Mountaineering has proudly organised an annual litter collection and outdoor activities event in the Peak District National Park. The model is simple. Participants spend the morning collecting rubbish then have the chance to try an exciting outdoor activity in the afternoon. As many people will know the Peak District National Park is the UK's busiest and it certainly suffers from its share of litter. We have always been delighted to do our bit to help.
In the first 2 years we teamed up with a charitable organisation and then this year we ran it ourselves along with our friends at the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (please click on their logo above to find out more about their essential work). An important part of the model we have now created is that the event must be absolutely free to participants and and we are committed to continuing this in 2015.
It’s a great way to both protect the national park whilst also giving participants the opportunity to try out an outdoor activity. The event would never be possible without the assistance of several organisations and freelance outdoor instructors and details of them all are included in Paul’s post event blog here. The blog also gives a real flavour of the event so please take the time to have a read.
So, today's big news is that in 2015 we are doing it again and the date has now been finalised. We had nearly 60 participants this year and we are aiming for 100 in 2015. Please be one of the 100. Please put 16th May 2015 in your diary.
More details will follow soon but if you are keen to take part just let us know via our Contact Form so we can add you to the list. We are also really keen to hear from any businesses or organisations that are able to help support the event in any way (financially, organisationally or simply by attending).
