Peak Mountaineering in the press

28th Jun 2012

As well as being rushed off our feet with courses it has also been a busy few weeks at the keyboard!  Several requests to write for various publications and websites have meant some midnight oil has been burnt to meet the deadlines.

First up is an article about trekking in the Khumbu region of Nepal that is now live on Outdoors Magic.  I wrote the bones of this piece during a trip to Ama dablam in 2010 but it's taken a while (2 years!) to finish it and get it typed up.  You can access the article here.  It's written as a kind of 'how to' guide to organising your own trek but, if you fancy a more organised approach, we are putting the finishing touches to our expedition for 2013.  More info will be on the website very soon.

The second piece is a review of my current favourite rucksacks (the Exped Mountain Pro 40 and 50) on our blog.  These little beauties are superbly designed and incredibly durable - perfect, infact, for all mountain adventures.  You can read the blog entry here.

Coming up there is also a scrambling guide that will be appearing in the next edition of our very favourite magazine, Trek and Mountain.  The route is called the Ogwen Triple and links several classic routes around Cwm Idwal.  It's one of my favourite scrambling enchainements and there's also going to be a competition in the magazine to win a guided ascent of the route with yours truly.  I'll let everyone know as soon as the magazine hits the shelves.

Finally, I was asked to write a review of the amazing new Petzl Nao (promounced 'now') for UKClimbing.  It's a feature packed headtorch with a revolutionary system that adjusts the light output to match the distance to objects.  Its brilliant.....with a few reservations!  I'll post a link to the website as soon as the review goes live but there's a nifty video Petzl made that I put on the blog here.

Hope to see you out there

Paul
