Climbing courses
Essential kit
- Rucksack (around 40 litres with a plastic liner bag)
- Waterproof jacket and trousers
- Walking boots or approach shoes and socks (see additional advice below).
- Thermal base layer (synthetic fibres rather than cotton)
- Fleece mid layer
- Mountain trousers
- Hat and gloves
- Lunch and drink
- Spare warm layer
- Spare food
- Personal first aid and medication
- Sunglasses and sun cream
- Rock climbing shoes or trainers
- Warm comfortable clothing that allows good freedom of movement (not jeans)
- Money for a pub stop at the end of the day!
- We provide all specialised climbing equipment including harnesses, helmets and climbing hardware but if you have your own feel free to bring them along.
- We will always use Peak Mountaineering’s own ropes.
For our foreign climbing courses don’t forget

- Passport
- E111 document
- For some of our accommodation bedding is provided but not in others – we will advise you on what to bring before departure.
Optional kit
- A small rucksack is great to carry essentials like a drink and extra sun cream on long multipitch routes (we love the 16 litre Black Diamond bullet).
- Camera
- Small penknife
- Shorts
