Picture InfoBolt clipping at its best! Notice how the gate of the rope clipping carabiner is facing away from the direction the climber is heading. This helps to prevent the rope unclipping by crossing the gate in a fall situation (particularly with bent gate crabs). No guarantee though.

Advice articles

Here is a selection of recent articles we have written on outdoor gear, locations or related issues.  Some of them support information we give out on courses and some are just things that may be of interest to you.

Our articles continue to be sought after by a variety of sources.  You may see some of them published in a variety of outdoor magazines, AMI  (Association of Mountaineering Instructors) News or Mountain Rescue Magazine.  We are also official mountain biking and rock climbing correspondents for Peak District Online and have contributed to the MLTA (Mountain Leaders Training Association) website.

You will find that more stuff gets added in the winter months or when we’ve been holed up in a festering hut waiting for decent weather and not much gets added in the summer months or, infact, anytime the weather is good – we like to think this means we’ve got our priorities right and we hope you’ll understand!

If you have a good idea for an article or want some advice please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Don’t forget to check out our kit lists if you are getting prepared for a course and our links page will also lead you to a host of other brilliant information pages and manufacturers websites to while away your winter evenings.

Please note that the information provided is only our opinion and anyone choosing to follow our advice does so entirely at his or her own risk!
