Climbers Self Rescue - September 2013
Peak Mountaineering's 1 day Climbers Self Rescue course is a bit like first aid - every climber knows they should do a course but most never seem to get around to it. We think this course is vital. Would you know what to do if your partner fell and injured themselves half way up a multipitch route or you were abseiling and found you had to get past a knot in your rope? There are endless situations climbers may need to overcome and this course gives you a range of strategies to have available in case the worst happens.
The course is based on one of the Peak District's many gritstone crags and over a full day's instruction we will cover a 'toolbox' of key rescue skills as well as spending time looking at how to avoid the problems occurring in the first place. The focus is always on simple solutions and everything is done at your own pace with a step-by-step approach that give you lots of time to practice. One day you may be very glad you took the time to prepare for the unexpected!
Over the years we have delivered this course to many recreational climbers as well as members of climbing clubs, rescue personnel and instructors. If you have a group that would be interested just get in touch and we'll sort out a course to suit your location and timescale.
