Picture InfoLiz Wilson enjoys ‘Fifteen Fathoms of Fear’ (S, 50m) on Mingulay, Outer Hebrides, Scotland. This superb one pitcher gives a gentle introduction to the climbing on the island. Another plus is that, unlike some of the routes, it’s relatively easy to find!

Intermediate & lead courses

5-Day Snowdonia Climber

This five-day rock climbing adventure is our most popular course.  As we match the content to the participants this course will suit anyone from beginners to experienced climbers (some clients use this as a ‘conversion’ course from indoor to outdoor climbing). At the intermediate level it would also be ideal for those working towards SPA training.

Depending on your experience level we spend the first couple of days looking at key climbing skills on single pitch and easier multipitch climbs.  Then we move onto some classic longer mountain routes, progressing towards introducing leading for participants that want to and also look at other essential skills such as abseiling, stance management and simple techniques to solve common climbing problems.  As always, a flexible approach maximises the learning opportunities.  All equipment provided.

Classic Rock Challenge

In 1978 Ken Wilson compiled the famous book ‘Classic Rock’, a whistle stop tour around 80 of the finest lower grade climbs in Scotland, Wales and England. Classic rock single pitch days such as Central Climb, Via Dolorosa, Black and Tans and Technical Slab at the Roaches will make a great start on your classic rock ‘tick list’.  Alternatively a day of classics at Tremadog such as Creagh Dhu Wall, Christmas Curry* and Poor Man’s Peuterey * or a classics day in the Ogwen Valley or the Llanberis Pass will take you onto some of the best mountain rock anywhere. These days will provide an absolutely fantastic day out for climbers with some experience.  Lets go and climb some classic rock together!

(* These routes aren’t in the main list but are offered by Wilson in the back of the book as alternative quality route options)

  • Ratio 1:2
