10 reasons....

7th Jan 2013

If you are looking to go on an expedition you have a lot to think about.  You may be going it alone (in which case Paul's recent article on expedition planning might help).  Alternatively, always feel free to give us a call and we are happy to offer advice or guidance.

Of course, if you are looking to book on to an organised expedition we can help even more.  In 2013 we have 4 great trips to 3 great destinations and each is carefully selected to make the objective suitable for different clients......

JEBEL TOUBKAL
For anyone new to mountaineering expeditions, or for those with less time or finances available, our Morocco adventure is unbeatable.  Here's ten reasons why we stand by our claim that Peak Mountaineering offers the very best Toubkal itinerary......

1. We don't just climb Jebel Toubkal.  Peak Mountaineering's itinerary is actually a loop of the Toukbal range.  This means you'll never be walking the same path twice (apart from up and down Toubkal) and the route we take is, quite simply, stunning.

2. Morocco is the perfect destination for a shorter trip. Given the flight time of only about 4 hours from several UK airports and with a number of airlines flying there.

3. We provide any necessary training and all technical equipment.  All you need is normal hillwalking kit, suitable walking boots, a sleeping bag and a day sack.

4. Our trek is fully supported.  Our cook team and ponies accompany us so all you need to carry each day is a light rucksack.

5. Our safety management system is second to none.  Our team carries extensive first aid and medical supplies and a satellite phone and emergency beacon for communication with our incident management centre in the UK.  We also have a company doctor on call at all times during the expedition for medical support and advice.

6. We also look after you when you aren't in the mountains.  Before and after the trek we stay in top quality riad's in Imlil and Marrakech.

7. Our cost is all inclusive. The only things we ask you to pay extra for are the meal in Marrakech on the final night and any extra drinks you buy in shops or cafes along the way.

8. We leave time for you to explore Marrakech on the last evening - and that's not to be missed.  It's a vibrant and exciting place.

9. Our leaders are amongst the best in the industry.  Your expedition will always be accompanied by a UK leader who has suitable qualifications and has experience on Toubkal.

10. We offer a very personal service.  If you have any questions along the way we're only at the end of a phone call or email.

But, of course, we don't just expect you to take our word for it.  Here's some feedback from previous Jebel Toubkal expedition members......

STOK KANGRI
Our signature expedition.  We have run trips to this jewel in the Indian Himalaya for years and we have the perfect itinerary.  Stok Kangri is the perfect mountain for fit outdoor people who have the stamina to trek for a number of days in a high mountain environment.

This is our mid length and mid price option and it's a great way to bag a Himalayan peak with only a couple of weeks off work.  Here's ten reasons Peak Mountaineering offers the best Stok Kangri itinerary available........

1. We don't just climb Stok Kangri.  Peak Mountaineering's itinerary is actually a circular route taking in the best of the Stok mountain range.  This means you'll never be walking the same path twice (apart from up and down Stok Kangri and a short section enroute to base camp) and the route we take is, quite simply, stunning.

2. India is the perfect destination for a medium length trip. Given the flight time of only about 8 hours to Delhi from several UK airports.

3. We provide any necessary training and all the technical equipment.  All you'll need is normal hillwalking kit, suitable walking boots, a sleeping bag and a day sack.  We also include a comprehensive training weekend to ensure the team get to know each other prior to departure and have all the necessary skills.

Before and after the trek we stay in comfortable and centrally located hotels.

7. Our cost is all inclusive. The only things we ask you to pay extra for are any extra drinks and snacks you buy in shops or cafes along the way.

8. We leave time for you to explore Delhi and that's definitely not to be missed.  It's a vibrant and exciting place.  We also include a visit to the amazing Taj Mahal to end the adventure.

9. Our expedition leaders are amongst the best in the industry.  Your expedition will always be accompanied by a UK leader who is highlynqualified and has experience leading groups on Stok Kangri.

10. We offer a very personal service.  If you have any questions along the way we're only at the end of a phone call or email.

But, of course, we don't just expect you to take our word for it.  Here's some feedback from previous Stok Kangri expedition members......

ISLAND PEAK AND/OR EVEREST BASE CAMP
We can't get enough of Nepal. A stunning country with incredibly friendly people and 8 of the world's highest mountains.

For 2013 we are offering 2 itineraries to suit different aspirations.  Firstly, we have the trek to Everest Base Camp - but  with a Peak Mountaineering twist.  Rather than heading straight up to base camp we use a circular route that leads us in via the beautiful Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass.  Believe us, it's well worth the extra few walking days.  This is a classic adventure suitable for anyone fit enough to walk for several days in high mountain terrain.  Everest Base Camp is our perfect mid length and mid price option.

For clients wanting more of a mountaineering objective we offer an extension to the EBC itinerary with an ascent of Island Peak. A technically interesting 6000+ mountain set in a stunning cirque of peaks - Island Peak makes a perfect first Himalayan adventure.  Island Peak is our longest and most technically challenging 2013 objective and it's a peach.

Here are 10 reasons to choose Peak Mountaineering for your 2013 Nepal adventure....

1. We don't just focus on the final objective.  Peak Mountaineering's itinerary is actually a circular route taking in the best of the Khumbu valley by walking via the Gokyo Lakes and the Cho La Pass.  This means you'll never be walking the same path twice (apart from up and back to Everest Base Camp from Loboche) and the route we take is, quite simply, stunning.  This also leaves plenty of acclimatisation time before ascending Island Peak.

2. Nepal is the perfect destination for a medium to long length trip. Given the flight time of only about 8 hours to Kathmandu from several UK airports.

3. We provide any necessary training and all the technical equipment.  All you need is normal hillwalking kit, suitable walking boots, a sleeping bag and a day sack (for the ascent of Stok Kangri an ascender is also required which typically costs about £45).  We also include a training weekend to ensure the team get to know each other prior to departure and have all the necessary skills.

Before and after the trek we stay in comfortable and centrally located hotels.

7. Our cost is all inclusive. The only things we ask you to pay extra for are any extra drinks you buy in shops or cafes along the way.

8. We leave time for you to explore Kathmandu and that's definitely not to be missed.  It's a vibrant and exciting place.

9. Our expedition leaders are amongst the best in the industry.  Your expedition will always be accompanied by a UK leader who has a high level of qualifications and has experience leading groups on Stok Kangri.

10. We offer a very personal service.  If you have any questions along the way we're only at the end of a phone call or email.

But, of course, we don't just expect you to take our word for it.  Here's some feedback from previous Nepal expedition members......
