Top Reads #2 Nature
Nature of Snowdonia
If you walk in the mountains of Snowdonia, either for leisure or as an instructor, you will undoubtedly have seen the wealth of flora contained within the national park. From Spring flowers to abundant grasses and from rare alpines to delicate mosses. It's a treasure trove. But seeing them is one thing. Hopefully you'll also feel inspired enough to want to know their names and learn some of their interesting back stories.
The second in our occasional Top Reads series is the perfect book to help you identify the nature of Snowdonia and it's a book called unsurprisingly.......The Nature of Snowdonia! It is written by Mike Raine who, as well as being an instructor at Plas Y Brenin, is a real enthusiast on all things flora. The book has clear photos and concise explanations and it is a perfect field guide to have available in your rucksack or on your bookshelf. The book is also highly recommended for mountain leader candidates as the level of information is just right for anyone looking to enthuse and inform others.
Of course, even though the focus of the book is Snowdonia, many of the same things can be found in other wilderness areas so it is relevant elsewhere too. A great resource and highly recommended.
The Nature of Snowdonia is published by Pesda Press and costs £14.95. It's ISBN number is 978-1-906095-10-9.
